The chip market has risen 5% as the Russia-Ukraine conflict affects global supplies

The chip market has seen a 5% rise amid the Russia-Ukraine War.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, global smartphone AP /SoC chipset exports climbed 5% year over year due to the Russia-Ukraine war, based on the latest study. Let me tell you that 5G smartphone SoC exports accounted for over half of all SoC shipments, based on the most recent Counterpoint Research.

It can be made possible only by the clients who have established chipset inventories to mitigate future risks," Del Guy, Director of Research, remarked.

Amidst material scarcity and manufacturing resources not being able to exceed, Qualcomm has had the robust quarter, gaining 18 percent quarter over quarter and 33 percent year over year. "Qualcomm was able to reinforce high-end Snapdragon shipments, which provide an increase in revenues and less influence over low-end mobile handsets," added Parv Sharma, a senior analyst.

Qualcomm also accounted for a 76 percent share in 5G baseband shipments driven by Apple's iPhone 13 and 12 series and premium Android portfolio.

This quarter, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship mobile platform will proceed to deliver.  Design triumphs in the Samsung Galaxy S22 range, as well as a debut during the Chinese New Year, will strengthen profitability in the first quarter of 2022. Ultimately, the debut of 5G devices by leading OEMs in H2 2022 will be the next shift in revenue.

With a 21 percent share of the smartphone SoC industry in the fourth quarter of 2021, Apple stayed in the third rank. Shipments were driven by the arrival of the iPhone 13 during the holiday rush.

On the other hand, Samsung Exynos plummeted to fifth place with a 4% market share as the company restructured its smartphone portfolio plan of in-sourcing and outsourcing to Chinese ODMs (original design makers).
