Soon you will be able to track your time spent on Facebook
App investigator Jane Manchun Wong announced the new feature. “Facebook is working on “Your Time on Facebook” which could help users to manage their time spent on the Facebook app". She also told about Instagram working on helping users to improve their digital wellbeing.”
Earlier this year, Google and Apple also introduced the same features for Android and iOS, which will help users monitor how much time they are spending on apps. The Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch: “We’re always working on new ways to help make sure people’s time on Facebook is time well spent.”
In the time where everyone is busy with the phone most of the times, this feature will surely bring consciousness. ‘Your Time on Facebook’ feature will show a list of days along with how much time the person has spent in the app. There will also be an option for a push notification where a person can set a daily limit for himself.
Time spent also matters for companies in this competitive scenario because more time in the app is directly proportional to people seeing more advertisements. The companies are fighting for the user’s maximum attention. Will it be a loss for the company or just a theoretical help for addictive people is yet to be seen?
