Microsoft brings Bing visual search to compete with Google Lens

Sometimes, it is almost impossible to describe what you want to search for using words.

The Bing team wrote in a blog post late on Friday “Today we’re launching new intelligent ‘Visual Search’ capabilities that build upon the visual technology already in Bing so you can search the web using your camera. Now you can search, shop and learn more about your world through the photos you take,” Sometimes, it is almost impossible to describe what you want to search for using words,” said Microsoft’s product lead for Bing Images, added Vince Leung, in the blog post.

Microsoft has launched a new “visual search” option for Bing, which lets users click a picture of something with their phone and visual search will search it online. The feature looks very similar to Google Lens. You can search for things like types of flowers, famous landmarks, and even clothes. The app will also try to identify what product it sees and, find places to buy them online.

The new visual search is available in a wide range of apps which includes the standalone Bing app on iOS and Android, Microsoft Launcher on Android, Microsoft Edge on Android, and coming soon to Edge on iOS.
